Lyrics page with foreword

One of my favorite parts of getting a new CD was to read the lyrics to the songs as I first listened to it.  It would give me an idea of where the lyricist was coming from, and appreciate the song that much more.  I always would wonder what might of inspired the songwriter to write what he/she did or maybe just read the lyrics just to see what the hell they were saying.  I figure if your taking the time to look at this page your probably a lot like me and I dedicate this page to you.  I do not claim to be the greatest songwriter, but I'm proud of this CD. Besides, we didn't have a lot to put on our web page anyway. Enjoy!

Listen to: Crazy, Get Busy, Playground

Crazy
Foreword: This song was wrote during a particularly stressful time in our bands early days. Our drummer was having some relationship problems.  His girlfriend had recently had their baby and major pressure was being applied to get his priorities straight. It was your classic power play, during which I literally thought he was going crazy.  It all culminated with him not showing up at one of our gigs. The band nearly fell off the face of the planet. Oh well, at least we salvaged a good song from the experience.

#1 Crazy  1 Crazy.mp3
Last night I sat around, thinking of my problems, counting them up on my fingers.
And everyone seemed to have dangling on there, hanging on there somehow.
Had me down and fooled it was all my doing.
YOU'VE GOT MY MIND SO HAZY,
SWEAR TO GOD I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY
Sometimes I sit around wondering why ya spend so many nights all alone and crying.
Was it something I said or did or maybe it was something that I didn't.
Too many times took the weight square on my shoulders.
(Chorus)
Get so tired of wondering who should be pointing the finger.
and arguing all the what ifs with the voices that scream in my mind, all the time.
Now I'm barely making day by day-yeah.
(Chorus)

Half Empty
Foreword: This song deals with the disabling affects negative thinking will get you. Not only what you put on yourself, but the vibes you receive or give to others. Pessimistic thinking will get you nowhere.

#2 Half Empty
I feel, I don't have a lot to say. I feel I don't have what it takes.
I feel, I may be too prepared to fail, I feel, I should grow "down" and settle "up".
AND I'M SO TIRED OF DRINKING FROM THE GLASS THAT'S HALF EMPTY.
They feel, I just don't fit the mode. They feel, my appearance doesn't suit them- no!
They feel, they just don't have the time. They feel, I'm headed for a fall.
(Chorus)      I'm so tired...etc.
You feel, the world weighs you down. You feel, somebody else can do it- no!
You feel, it's not your fault. You feel, like feeling sorry for yourself.

Get Busy
Foreword;  Nothing too deep here, just  horny! Before my wife and I were married we spent 4 years in a long distance relationship only seeing each other on weekends. The weekdays can seem extremely long and frustrating and "there was only one thing I was wanting to do when I got alone with her". I really started to have fun writing this one, especially the last verse. It basically has no meaning to it, but did have an Aerosmith-like feel to it.

#3 Get Busy  3 Get Busy.mp3
Yeah, Seeing is believing and the eyes don't lie, when they start undressing you.
Hot Damn, looking so fine, yeah ya blow my mind.
There's only one thing that I want to do when I get alone with you.
LET'S GET, LET'S GET BUSY. LETS GET BUSY.
LETS GET IT ON. LETS GET BUSY.
Yeah the party's just started but I feel like leaving, if you come along with me.
Oh my my, I'll give ya a ride, just ya wait and see.
Like bee's to the honey, I want to get on it, won't cha come along with me.
(Chorus)
Yeah, Busy little beaver, but the dam won't last, when the walls begin to sway.
Here kitty kitty, my what a pity, the mice are out to play.
Time keeps ticking, so lets stop the bitching, lets get it on today.
(Chorus)

The Playground
Foreword; On august 25th, 1997, One of my best friends died in a car accident. It's probably the most traumatic thing I've ever gone through. I started to question what happens when you die and if a person could contact you from the afterlife. Raised a Catholic, I believe there is an in-between place called Purgatory. This is where a person would go to get things right before they could move on to heaven. Be it a chemical reaction in my mind, or just a psychological way of dealing with death, or maybe actually having contact with the dead, but I had a dream of walking into a schoolyard playground and my friend Ted was there just as real as life. I knew he was dead and I asked him how he was doing. He proceeded to tell me he was in Purgatory and it sucked, but not to worry because he would be going to Heaven soon. Regardless of what it really was, the experience gave me peace of mind.

#4 The Playground      4 Playground.mp3
Toss and turn, coal black night, a walk down a familiar road.
Black-n-white school ground scene. The dead speaks of life long past.
At first so real, than I lose the grasp. The night falls like winter's children.
MEET ME AT THE PLAYGROUND, TELL ME EVERY THINGS OK.
THE DEBTS BEEN PAID AND YOU'VE CROSSED OVER.
I'LL MEET YOU THERE SOMEDAY.
Caught between heaven and hell. The preachers words seem all so true.
A familiar smile turned upside down. The unrest is in your eyes now.
(Bridge and Chorus)
With every tick, life passes you by. In a mother's mourning or baby's cry.
Balanced in the great divide, a friend waves and says goodbye.

Underdog
Foreword; The Underdog was wrote after a particularly hard day of work. I was in sales and the person I was trying to sell to was very rude and went out of his way to make me feel insignificant. Once I started to kick around the idea of being the underdog, I just drew from various experiences and put it into a generic format as to be applied to anything. I was very pleased with the way way the lyrics flowed in this song. This song was actually recorded at our practice room and later remixed at The Studio.

#5 Underdog
What cha trying to prove, with these people you use.
Still I manage a smile for awhile just to keep you amused.
Condescending fool, did you make up these rules,
as you went right along, you were wrong to be so damn cruel.
I'm not here for your joy, a whipping boy, I got nothing else to lose.
I can turn right around without a frown, and you can find someone new.
SAY STAY I WON'T SIT STILL, I WON'T BEG FOR MY NEXT MEAL.
LIE DOWN CAUSE I'VE BEEN FLOGGED, THAT'S ONE FOR THE UNDERDOG.
I came as friend, I was willing to bend,
from head to heel, but better still, I tried again and again.
It's all been a game, well I guess it's the same.
Yeah ya lied, spat in my eye, and your all to blame.
I won't walk the line one more time in your circus full of clowns.
Now your paying your dues, it's cause of you, and now it's coming around.
(Chorus)
Oh yeah, chalk it up for the Underdog.

What Do You Want
Foreword; Many of our songs deal with heartbreak, but you may be surprised to know that they personally do not deal with me. I've always felt that you can be too close to a situation to see it for what it really is. If you are able to view things from the outside in, a person can be much more objective. This song is based on a relationship that one of my best friends went through. He was engaged to be married and was very much in love with this girl. To the surprise of everyone, she called off the wedding and broke up. Even though she crushed him, I believe she still kept him hanging on to the hope that they still may have a chance.

#6 What Do You Want
Baby, Why did you leave me, with this broken heart maybe it was just never meant to be.
Wasn't you who said this was forever.
Though distance kept us apart, I still thought our hearts were still together.
Now you've changed your mind and expect me just to wait and see.
You better make your mind up soon, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME.
I gave you my heart, you ripped it apart, What do you want from me?
One of these days, you'll know you've thrown it away, What do you want from me?
Years go by and I ask myself, is this the girl I knew.
Well you better make your mind up soon, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME.
You got a new life, soon to be wife, What do you want from me?
You're saying were friends, well I say it's the end, What do you want from me?
(Bridge and Chorus)
Make up your mind, lay on the line, What do you want from me?
I'm tired of being used, sad and confused, What do you want from me?

Be The Man
Foreword; The phrase "To Be The Man, You Have To Beat The Man" was coined by my good friend Jody Payne. It was used during our extensive competitions of the video game Mortal Kombat, where the loser would have to give up the joystick to the next combatant in line. The song itself really doesn't have a lot to do with Mortal Kombat, but that is where the chorus came from. I stole the guitar like from one of my favorite songs from the 80's ; I Only Wanted To Be Loved By You, by the band Riot. We just had fun with this song as you can tell by Jeff's crazy guitar solo breaks and the use of the pitch shifter on my voice. (The part where I sound like the Devil.)

#7 To Be The Man
To be the man, you have to beat the man.
If you want to play, you have to stand your ground.
Cause this dog eatin' world, where boy meets the world,
If your not thick skinned, you don't even stand a chance.
Cause its do or die, when you cross that line,
when you draw first blood, you never give in.
TO BE THE MAN , YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE MAN.
When you call their bluff, and the deck is stacked,
you got to play your cards without regret.
Cause to get ahead, sometimes a shortcuts best,
go for number one and don't expect less.
If you fail to win, you got to hold your head high,
stand out, and shout it out!, at least I tried.
(Chorus)
So you want to play, To be the man, you have to beat the man.

Assorted Pieces
Foreword; This song was not about anyone in particular. In fact it's basically what I thought it would feel like if my girlfriend was to break up with me and how I hope I would deal with it.

#8 Assorted Pieces
You told me it was over, and there was nothing left to say.
Well I won't give you that satisfaction, of what I thinking now today.
When ya called me baby, how it felt inside,
Yeah ya ripped me open, now how am I to survive.
Your last kiss still stings my lips, how could I let you walk away,
without a tear form in my eye, and what I'm thinking now today.
Just how I'm missing making love to you,
to feel your body, and the things that we would do, all night!
Sleepless nights, lying all alone, I wasn't there when you needed me, had I only known.
If I had it all to do over again, I tell ya baby that I'd be your friend.
Now my life's ASSORTED PIECES-baby, What the hell I'm I to do,
I can't put it back together-baby, without the one of me and you.
What the hell I'm I to do, Awe to hell with you.

I Will
Foreword; The only true love song on the CD. I wrote this song especially for my wedding and sang it at the reception as a surprise.

#9 I Will
I'll be the one to give you life, when times look dark, I'll be your light.
I'll be that one thing you can hold on to.
I'll lift you up when you are down, cause when your sad I'll be your clown.
I'll wipe away any tears that fall from your eyes.
And I'll be your friend and hold your hand, cause when your confused I'll understand.
I'll give you the time, but if your still wondering.
WHO WILL BE THERE TO SAY IT'S ALRIGHT,
WHO WILL HOLD YOU NIGHT AFTER NIGHT.
SHARE YOUR YOUR DREAMS, A LOVE THAT'S REAL.
I WILL.
Now here we stand before God and man, I'll give you all, all that I can.
I swear now and forever I'll be there for you.
And I'll make this last just you wait and see,
From this day forward it's just you and me.
So please ease your mind if your still wondering.
WHO WILL BE THERE TO SAY IT'S ALRIGHT,
WHO WILL HOLD YOU NIGHT AFTER NIGHT.
SHARE YOUR DREAMS, A LOVE THAT'S REAL.
I'LL BE THE ONE, I SWEAR I WILL.

Through You
Foreword; I always wanted to create a religious song that was not typical or corny. This song is about the modern day attitude to discard God from society.

#10 Through You
You call him in ecstasy, you curse him in pain.
Take the good for granted, but for bad he's to blame.
He gave you life, but remembered in death.
When you beg not to burn with your final breath.
What's the price, the sacrifice, self destruct, at our own device.
Thrown out of school on capital hill, yet you trust in him on your dollar bills.
You worship your money with wide eyed wonder.
Tell me, is he the one this nation is under.
(Bridge)
I DON'T BELIEVE YOU, SEE RIGHT THROUGH YOU.
I DON'T BELIEVE YOU, SEE RIGHT THROUGH YOU.
